What's it in for me? Who cares!
Want it but cant get it? Need it but don't like it? Love it but it's not yours? These are the three most common reasons for discontent. I found that the best way to conquer them is by digging a hole into the ground, shoving your head into it when finished. Voila! Problems solved. Not only do you find yourself undistracted by the trivial wants of this life, but you become greatly appreciative of all the things that surround you every day that go unnoticed. Today, be thankful for those in your life and the abundance you posses. It is a cruel thing to judge one's own welfare by the scale of those better off. Rather, judge your state of affairs by those who aren't as fortunate. When you remove the focus from your own scope of self-fulfillment, only then will you see the monotonous routine that so easily ensnares us. After you have arrived at this realization, do two things: First, clean the dirt off of your face. Second, when you go to McDonalds, put your change in the Ronald McDonald House box. A suffering child and their family somewhere thanks you.
